"You were right." Steve's a better Captain America when he remembers why he fights so hard. It isn't just because of the serum or because he was picked, it's all the little things about life and living. Things he had started to lose before Tony.

They aren't always each others first priority though. Saving the world has to come first. The risks they take. The situations they put themselves in. The ones they choose. That always comes first. That's the way it's always going to be. Steve wouldn't let the world burn just to save Tony. He'd think about it, just like he thought about hiding the information from Tony, but in the end he'd pick saving the world over the man he loved.

In a way that made it more important to make sure Tony knew just how much he was loved. How often Steve chose him in the small ways and sometimes big ways. He doubts anyone but the human Jarvis had ever given Tony that sort of attention. So many people made Tony feel like he didn't matter and that he was just a guy who made things or just a wallet to fund things. He couldn't be that kind of person with Tony. He refused.

"Well, I think you do." Steve presses a kiss to the center of Tony's forehead. "It's another way I'm bossy."

He slides his arm around Tony's shoulders and tugs him against his side, once again offering the shelter and safety of himself for Tony to hide again or just rest or let Steve feed him little bites of pasta and meatballs.

"Wanna put on a movie until we pass out?" He figures that's a decent distraction. Steve's still working through his list of things he needed to catch up on. It felt like he'd never catch up on movies. There were just so many made! And everyone had a different idea on what he needed to see.

Tony could stare at the screen and get lost in his own head or in the special effects. Steve didn't mind just sitting with him waiting. Maybe they'd be up all night but that's fine too. They can both get by with a little less sleep.
