It feels like a small victory that Tony's talking about it. He's not going to let himself grieve which is what Steve really thinks he needs but at least he's talking about it in the future. It feels like a step forward instead of a step backwards or getting closed out of what Tony's feeling and thinking.

"We could go train until you're too exhausted to do anything but sleep. My usual MO before you came along." There were many nights Steve spent in the gym not sleeping, trying to fight through his emotions. It had never solved the problem but it did make everything fade into static so he could focus on the present.

But now he had Tony and there were other ways he stopped thinking. "These days I spend time with you and it helps."

He takes Tony's glass with a gentle tug and sets it on the table away from him. Tony will have to either get up and walk around or climb into Steve's lap to reach it. It's the most deliberate he's been about this.

"You probably want to build something?" In the lab where the files that started all of this still are. Maybe it's better if Tony stays away from there. Obsessing over the details in those files won't help when they don't have any productive leads.
